BAFTA Announce winners

BAFTA Winners

Picture - Atonement
Director - Coen Brothers for No Country For Old Men
Actress - Marion Cotillard
Actor - Daniel Day Lewis
Supporting Actor - Javier Bardem
Supporting Actress - Tilda Swinton
Rising Star - Shia LaBeouf
Mostly expected as the British film 'Atonement' beat all others for Best Picture. Marion's Actress win was a surprise beating British star Christie. Tilda Swinton was the other shock beating Cate Blanchett.

Writers Guild of America Awards

'Juno' and 'No Country for Old Men' continued to dominate the writing categories as they took the Writers Guild of America Awards last night. Both now look certain to pick up the Oscar as well in what appears to ber a brilliant year for them both. The chances that the strike is coming to an end is also welcome and, fingers crossed, we may have a proper awards ceremony in a few weeks time.

Annie Awards

The Disney film Ratatouille won 9 Annie Awards including Best Animated movie to more or less make Oscar glory a certainty. Every year but one has the Annie Best Picture winner corresponded with the Academy's pick so it would be a major surprise now if it was beaten. Check OscarPred for the latest rankings.
